Bowling, it is.

Posted on 09:17 by Unknown
bowling shoes

So, my sister and I decided to take our families bowling. They had a family package which included shoes for everyone, a pitcher of soda and 2 hours of all you can bowl games for $35. We all bowled on one lane. 8 people. Yes, we let our 2 year old bowl. If you can call it that.

But actually, it wasn't Miles that made us laugh the hardest. No, it was Anna. I mean, how hard (or rather, softly) do you have to be rolling the ball to have it come back up the lane. Seriously. At one point, I told Anna, "Throw it hard!" At which point she hefted the ball up above her head and launched it... into the lane beside us. Fortunately, no one was bowling there. Another time, she managed to somehow get a gutter ball, even tho we were playing with bumpers up. Don't ask, I have no idea.

The moral of the story here is that it took us the full 2 hours for everyone to play ONE GAME. I'm not sure if the group rate was the best deal...

I wish I could remember what the kids' scores were, but I've lost all memory of things that don't ultimately matter, apparently.

- A temple sealing
- A graveside service
- A baby blessing
- A water balloon war
- Root's Auction
- Gabriel Brothers X4
- Guitar Hero with the whole family
- Catching fireflies
- Blowing bubbles
- Sparklers & fireworks
- Tab's bounce house
- Swinging
- Bon Fires & Roasted Marshmallows
- MOVIES (none that I attended)
- Beautiful weather
- 3 Photoshoots
- Delicious food, and lots of it
- "Mother May I?" and "Red Light, Green Light"
- Hilarious Three Legged Races
- Making Clover Flower Hair Wreaths
- Running in the sprinklers
- Messy Haircuts

Where should I start?

So Long, Farewell...

Posted on 19:38 by Unknown
We're officially on vacation. So, I'll be out of town (don't break into my home unless you promise to clean it) until the 23rd of July. Yes, it's a long vacation.

Looking forward to lots of really great times with my family. And I'm taking two cameras, 6 memory cards, a video camera, and an external hard drive. My excitement level is at about an 11. Except for the part where the next two days will be spent in the car with a 3 month old kid who loathes his carseat. Wish us luck, eh?

for kicks and giggles

Some things Cute. Others, not so much.

You decide which is which.

06282008-5

Almost 3 months old. Still super scrawny. The kid has a great smile and those silly ears that poke out just a tad. Here's hoping hair will fix most of the poking out.

Have I mentioned my least favorite part about Florida? The wildlife? Ew. Ew. Ew. Biggest grasshopper I've EVER seen.

06282008-9

Yeah, I think we'll keep him. No, seriously, we will.

06282008-2

Mmm... Nothing says yum quite like chunkified milk.

06282008-12

The jury's still out on this one. For those not in the know, this is my "baby brudder", Matt. Here in Orlando on a business trip. He forced me to make three batches of cookies in the short 3 days he spent here. FORCED!

Anecdote

Posted on 17:41 by Unknown
My children are obsessed with their heritage. They absolutely LOVE that they are 1/2 Chinese. However, it is a source of sadness and misery for them that they are 1/2 Honky-White. They lament their whiteness quite frequently.

"But I wanna be WHOLE Chinese!" For example.

I, personally, don't mind my glaring skin and propensity to burn to a crisp in this Florida sun. But whatever.

As it is summer, we've been spending alot more time in the out of doors. And while I slather my children with sunblock at every turn, their skin continues to get darker and darker. Last week, after a fabulous day at a friend's pool, I was taken aback by Abbie's appearance.

Mom: "Whoa! Abbie! You're getting SO dark! You're turning downright brown!"
Anna (who was standing nearby): "Oh!!!! You're turning WHOLE CHINESE!??!?!!!!!"

Seriously folks, it's a laugh a minute around here.

DIY.

Posted on 18:47 by Unknown
I know I've posted pictures of this shirt before, but I had to post the full outfit. I made the babylegs from a tutorial I found online. Love them. So cute and they make diaper changes EASY.
ahoy!

Also, have I told you the story of the chair? I haven't? Well, lucky you.
the chair.

Because the new house has an upstairs (all the bedrooms) and a downstairs (all the living spaces), I desperately needed a chair to nurse in during those midnight feedings. Two days before Lucas was born, I decided what better place to walk the kid out of me than at IKEA, eh? On my way out of the store, I visited my very favorite part, AS IS. And there sat my chair. Without thinking twice, I bought it. Then I thought twice. How was I going to get this into my van?! I'm 38 weeks pregnant! Luckily, a very nice gentleman helped me hoist it on into the van.

By the time I got home, I was so excited that I immediately pulled the chair out of the van and into the house, up our stairs and into the bedroom. I figured all that exertion could only send me into labor and what a dirty shame that would be! I love this chair. It's totally perfect.

Oh, and so is he! (Did I mention he's been sleeping through the night?!!!)
cute kid, eh?
